Building Acoustics
Improve sound quality and privacy inside your building through soundproofing design, sound-leakage and impact-noise testing, and room-acoustic tuning to international standards.
Scope
- Site survey and sound-leakage path analysis
- STC/FSTC measurement for walls and doors (ASTM E336, ISO 16283-1)
- Floor impact-noise testing (ISO 16283-2, ISO 717-2)
- Background noise (NC/NR) and HVAC assessment
- Reverberation Time and Speech Transmission Index (STI)
- Improvement options (walls/floors/ceilings, seals, resilient channels) with BoQ and predicted results
- Post-improvement verification testing
Standards & method
We reference ISO 16283-1/-2 for field testing of walls and floors, ISO 717-1/-2 for sound ratings, and ISO 3382-2 for reverberation, plus NC/NR for background noise.
Deliverables
- TH/EN report with STC/FSTC, RT and NC/NR graphs
- Good / Better / Best options with predicted outcomes
- Material details and BoQ
- Acceptance checklist and post-works test forms
FAQ
What is the difference between STC and FSTC?
STC comes from laboratory testing; FSTC is measured in the field and better reflects real conditions.
What STC/FSTC should I target?
It depends on room type — meeting rooms should reach FSTC 45+, general rooms may be lower.
Do we need to re-test after the works?
Yes — a verification test confirms the result meets the design target.
