Hotel & Resort Acoustics

Hotels and resorts sell an experience of rest. A little noise — from the next room, the corridor, the HVAC, or a ballroom — is enough to sink reviews, lose repeat guests, and hit revenue directly. We design and verify the acoustics of guest rooms, party walls, floors, MEP systems, and event spaces so they are quiet and private to international standards — from design stage through pre-opening verification.

Scope of work

  • Design and test guest-room party-wall isolation (STC/FSTC) to ISO 16283-1 and ISO 717-1
  • Test floor impact isolation between storeys (L'nT,w) to ISO 16283-2 and ISO 717-2
  • Design guest-room and corridor sound locks to stop corridor noise leakage
  • Control HVAC and MEP background noise (NC/NR criteria) in rooms and lobby
  • Ballroom and meeting-room acoustics: operable-partition STC, reverberation, and STI
  • Noise and vibration control for plant rooms, pools, spa, and kitchens
  • Facade design against road and aircraft noise
  • Pre-opening verification testing with a punch list for any failing elements

Standards & method

We work to ISO 16283-1/-2 for field testing of walls and floors, ISO 717-1/-2 for rating, ISO 3382 for reverberation and STI, and NC/NR criteria for background noise — aligned to the acoustic criteria of the international hotel operator your project must satisfy.

FAQ

What isolation should a hotel guest room target?

Most international hotel operators specify around STC/FSTC 50–55 between guest rooms, with floor impact and HVAC background noise controlled alongside. The right target depends on the hotel's tier and the brand's standard — we set it to match your project.

Should acoustics start at design or after construction?

Starting at design stage is by far the most cost-effective — fixing walls or floors after construction is very expensive. We can join at design, during construction, and for pre-opening verification.
