Basic Noise (half-day course)
If you are the person carrying the sound level meter, this is the half day that makes the number you bring back defensible. We start with what noise is and how hearing works, move through choosing the right instrument for the job, calibrating before and after, and finish with reading Thai noise law well enough to know who enforces which limit and which measurement method makes a reading admissible.
- Format and duration
- Half day · 13:00–17:00 · At the Geonoise training room, or in-house at your site
- Who it is for
- Anyone measuring noise for environmental or occupational health and safety work, acoustic consultancies, and interested newcomers.
What the course covers
- Fundamentals of noise and hearing
- Choosing measuring equipment that suits the work
- Measurement technique, instrument calibration, and interpreting the calibration result
- Thai law and standards for industrial noise and nuisance noise
Standards referenced
Referenced to the National Environment Board and ministerial notifications in force, including the measurement methods those notifications prescribe.
Ask for dates and a quote
Available as a public course and as an in-house programme. Tell us the headcount and the kind of work you do, and we will come back with dates that fit.
FAQ
Do I need a background in acoustics?
No. The course is built for people starting from zero. It also suits anyone who has taken measurements before but is not confident the method would survive scrutiny.
Can you run this in-house at our site?
Yes, in Bangkok and up-country, and we will adapt the content to your own operations. Tell us the headcount and the type of work and we will send dates and a quote.
Do I bring my own sound level meter?
Not necessary — meters and a calibrator are provided. If you would rather train on the instrument your organisation already owns, bring it and we will teach on that model.
